What We Found When We Walked Into That Bedroom

When I walked into that bedroom, I could see right away what Rick was talking about. After vacuuming, I pre-sprayed the whole room with our professional-grade solution, paying special attention to that heavily soiled traffic lane. The pre-spray breaks down the bond between the soil and the fibers, loosening everything packed in there. I let it dwell about fifteen minutes — you can’t rush this part.

Once the dwell time was up, I agitated the traffic lane to work the pre-spray deeper into the pile and make contact with as much of that built-up soil as possible — a bit like scrubbing a tough stain on a shirt. Then came the main event: steam cleaning the entire room with hot water extraction, flushing the carpet with hot water and immediately pulling it back out along with all the loosened dirt and solution.
